My client is Seeking a Director of External Relations to join their team based in Marlybone, London.
About the Role
This is a senior role responsible for bringing more pupils into the school, promoting the school’s reputation, and helping raise money. You will lead the teams that handle marketing, admissions, communications, fundraising, and alumnae relations. Your job is to help the College grow, stay financially healthy, and strengthen it's image.
Marketing & Brand
• Create and run the school’s marketing and communications plan.
• Oversee all branding, messaging, website, social media, advertising, and printed materials.
• Test and track different ways to reach prospective families.
• Keep staff, pupils, and alumnae well informed internally.
• Keep an eye on trends and competitor schools and use data to guide decisions.
Working with the Head of Admissions, you will:
• Lead the pupil recruitment process, from open days to interviews.
• Make sure families have a great experience from first contact to enrolment.
• Build relationships with feeder schools and attract a diverse range of applicants.
• Ensure admissions follow all rules and regulations.
Working with the Head of Development, you will:
• Create and run a fundraising plan (major gifts, annual giving, partnerships, etc.).
• Build relationships with donors, parents, alumnae, and charitable organisations.
• Grow alumnae engagement through events, communication, and networks.
• Ensure donors are recognised and updated.
Leadership & Management
• Lead and support the External Relations team with clear goals and smooth operations.
• Work closely with the Principal and other senior leaders.
• Manage budgets and make sure financial targets are met.
Monitoring & Reporting
• Set up systems to track data and performance across marketing, admissions, fundraising, and alumnae engagement.
• Update senior leaders and governors regularly.
• Check the impact and value of marketing spend.
