Offer description

The Bodleian Libraries is seeking an Open Access and Repository Assistant to join the Open Access Collections Team, working to facilitate access to University of Oxford research, whilst supporting the maintenance and development of the Oxford University Research Archive (ORA).

You will be primarily responsible for reviewing material deposited by Oxford academics, and making this material available through the ORA website. As part of the review process you will ensure that a deposit complies with copyright and other regulations affecting the dissemination of the work. You will support the ORA helpdesk and assist authors with depositing their work to ORA and understanding their responsibilities with regards to policies affecting research publications. You will also enhance the metadata for deposited material and facilitate access to full-text files to maximise interaction and engagement with the research content.

This post provides a great opportunity to transfer the “traditional” bibliographic skills of cataloguing and authority control to the newer and still-developing area of research output data management.

This is an open-ended post, working 36.5 hours per week, offering working from home 2-3 days per week.

About You

You will be computer literate, have experience working with a database or structured records and have good attention to detail. Good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently are essential.

Benefits

* An excellent contributory pension scheme
* 38 days of annual leave
* A comprehensive range of childcare services
* Family leave schemes
* Cycle loan scheme
* Discounted bus travel and Season Ticket travel loans

Diversity

The University staff and students come from all over the world, and we proudly promote a friendly and inclusive culture. Diversity is positively encouraged, through diverse groups and champions, as well as a number of family-friendly policies, such as the right to apply for flexible working and support for staff returning from periods of extended absence, for example, shared parental leave.

The University of Oxford is committed to ensuring that the recruitment processes are inclusive and accessible. If you require the job description or any other materials in an alternative format, or if you would like to request any adjustments to support you through the application or interview process, please contact the recruitment team at recruitment@glam.ox.ac.uk.

How To Apply

You will be required to upload your CV and a supporting evidence form using the attached template as part of your online application. Your supporting evidence form should list each of the essential and desirable selection criteria, as listed in the job description, and explain how you meet each one. CVs alone will not be considered.

The University of Oxford aims to provide a supportive working environment and are happy to discuss training and professional development opportunities. The Chair of this recruitment panel will be Tom Mitchell, Open Access Service Manager, who can be contacted with enquiries relating to the role (tom.mitchell@bodleian.ox.ac.uk). General queries about the recruitment and application process should be directed to the Recruitment team within the Human Resources department (recruitment@glam.ox.ac.uk).

Please discuss secondments with your line manager in the first instance, as you must have their agreement that you can be released for a secondment before you submit an application.

Only applications received online by 12.00 midday GMT on Wednesday 10 December 2025 can be considered. Interviews are expected to take place on Thursday 8 and Friday 9 January 2026.
