Job overview
This role involves providing data and governance leadership in line with the National Sarcoma Service Specification, national cancer dataset (COSD), and national cancer waiting time targets. It is part of a team of CWT Coordinators tracking and reporting on soft tissue sarcoma patients across the Peninsula. The role requires ensuring efficient patient management, contributing to national targets and audits, supporting MDT coordination, preparing agendas, tracking investigations, and facilitating patient pathways within national guidelines. Effective liaison with various departments is essential. Excellent organisational, communication, and IT skills, along with high accuracy, are key requirements.
Main duties of the job
1. Data Validation, Submission and Reporting: Ensure timely validation and completion of data for reports and national deadlines; advise service leads to ensure quality data collection.
2. Quality and Governance: Coordinate reports to NHSE/I, support Sarcoma leads, and ensure documentation meets service specifications.
3. MDT Meetings: Support administrative tasks for Sarcoma MDT meetings, including organising agendas and distributing them across the Peninsula.
Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, 'Priority', 'At Risk', and NHS At Risk staff within Devon who demonstrate recent relevant experience as per the Person Specification.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Data Collection: Rapidly capture and record accurate data for patient management and reporting, liaising with external centres and coordinating with regional partners.
2. Database Coordination: Manage national cancer databases, liaising with clinicians and teams to collect clinical information.
3. Data Collation: Gather data from regional partners such as RDUH, RCHT, and SDHT.
4. Information Requirements: Keep informed of future sarcoma and NHS service specifications.
5. Issue Reporting: Inform leads about cancer information demands and requirements.
6. Audit and Support: Produce audit reports and support MDT evidence gathering for quality assessments.
Person specification
Knowledge & Experience
* IT skills, including advanced Excel
* Experience with databases and the Somerset Cancer Register
* Understanding of sarcoma/cancer specialties and medical terminology
* Knowledge of Cancer Pathways, tracking, and hospital information systems (iPM, CRIS, iLab)
* Experience working in large clinical settings and with Cancer MDTs
* Excellent report writing and data analysis skills
Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent experience (if B5 role)
* English and Maths GCSE or equivalent
* Advanced keyboard skills
* Ability to analyse, interpret, and present data confidently
* Effective communication skills at all levels
* Strong organisational and time management skills
* Ability to work flexibly and independently
