Vehicle Technician / Car Mechanic | VAG Specialist
Dorking | £35,000 – £45,000 (DOE) + Performance Bonuses
We're Hiring a Standout Specialist
We are looking for a highly skilled Vehicle Technician who takes real pride in accuracy, quality workmanship, and professional standards. This isn't a role for the ordinary—we want a specialist who delivers exceptional results and thrives in a high-performing, quality-driven environment.
If you're a VAG expert who knows their way around a diagnostic terminal as well as a wrench, and you're looking for a role where your talent is actually recognized and rewarded, this is it.
What You'll Receive
* Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 basic (depending on experience).
* Hours: 08:00am – 05:30pm | Monday to Friday only.
* Work-Life Balance: Strictly no weekend shifts—keep your Saturdays for yourself!
* Training: Ongoing technical training provided, including Hybrid and EV qualifications.
* The Environment: A modern, 800 sq/m workshop with dealer-level diagnostic systems.
* The Culture: Join a lovely team with a "cracking" boss and an atmosphere full of banter.
Who We Are
We are a premier, second-generation family-run independent specialist based in Dorking. For over 60 years, we've built a reputation for honesty and technical excellence that rivals the main dealers.
While we are a VAG Specialist (Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, and Skoda) and prefer to keep our bays full of German engineering, we are a versatile workshop. We pride ourselves on our "can-do" attitude—if it comes through the door, we can fix it—giving you a healthy variety of work alongside your specialist VAG projects.
The Role
You will be a key player in a busy, organized workshop, carrying out high-level diagnostics, servicing, and repairs. Using ODIS and other dealer-level tooling, you will ensure every vehicle leaves the bay meeting strict manufacturer and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Specialist Repair: Carrying out complex servicing and diagnostics across the VW Group range.
* Versatility: Handling repairs and maintenance on all makes and models that enter the workshop.
* Advanced Tech: Using specialist diagnostic software and tooling to identify complex faults.
* Quality Control: Maintaining a high "first-time fix" rate and taking pride in your workmanship.
* Team Spirit: Contributing to a safe, clean, and positive workshop atmosphere.
What You Bring
* Qualifications: NVQ Level 2/3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance.
* VAG Expertise: A strong background in Volkswagen, Audi, SEAT, or Skoda is preferred.
* Adaptability: Comfortable working on a wide range of vehicles beyond just the VAG group.
* Diagnostic Ability: Confident using specialist software and mechanical problem-solving.
* Modern Tech: Knowledge of hybrid/EV systems is a major plus (training will be provided).
* Drive: A full UK driving licence and a professional, team-focused approach.
Why This Role Stands Out
If you are an ambitious technician searching for a role with great pay, weekday-only hours, and a supportive team environment where you aren't just a number, this is the perfect move. You'll get the professional standards of a main dealer without the corporate headaches.
