Overview
This is an opportunity for a dedicated administrator to join the team at Alexander House, based in Knaresborough. The team provides essential compassionate mental health support and care to older people in the local area. Alexander House is a short walk to the town centre with free onsite parking. You will be based in the admin office, supported by existing administrators, and work closely with clinical staff to deliver the Trust mission of co-creating a great experience for patients, carers and families.
Role Details
This role is 22.5 hours per week and can be flexible within Monday to Friday, 9:00–17:00 core hours. Previous administrative experience is essential. NHS or other healthcare experience is desirable but not essential. We are seeking a colleague with a passion for helping people, a commitment to excellent customer service, and a proactive, “can do” attitude who is keen to learn and work in a healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
* Process referrals to the team
* Book essential assessment and treatment appointments
* Liaise with patients, carers and other stakeholders
* Type letters using Trust systems
* Maintain accurate, confidential patient records
* Minute meetings and keep accurate records
* Support the multi-disciplinary team, including nurses, healthcare support workers, consultants and management, by providing administrative support
Requirements & Qualifications
* Experience of working in a busy office environment
* Confidence with IT systems as part of day-to-day work
* Ability to multitask in a busy environment, communicate confidently, and build strong working relationships
* Ability to prioritise workload and understand the challenges of mental health care
* Desirable: NHS or healthcare experience
Additional Information
You will join another team administrator and our senior administrator (medical secretary) to deliver admin support. You will be invited to regular meetings to improve knowledge and understanding of services and may be asked to assist with minutes and records. If successful, you will receive a job plan and a fully supported induction.

Starting salary: £24,937, rising to £26,598 after 2 years. NHS pension scheme and generous annual leave (27 days, increasing with service, plus bank holidays). Benefits include:
