Leader Education is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 pupil with Special Educational Needs in a mainstream primary school in Wakefield. This full-time, long-term role is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children in their final year of primary school as they prepare for transition to secondary education.
The successful candidate will provide tailored support to meet the child’s individual needs, which may include:
Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
ADHD and associated learning difficulties
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm
Candidate Requirements:
Previous experience supporting children with SEND (school, care, or youth work experience considered)
Confidence in working 1:1 with a pupil, providing emotional and academic support
Ability to assist with English and Maths interventions appropriate for Key Stage 2
Patient, nurturing, and adaptable approach
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with the class teacher and SENCO
Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one)
