Bar Team Leader (20 hours fixed term contract)
Mayflower Theatre is the largest theatre on the South Coast with 2,271 seats in the auditorium. The Theatre's aim is to bring a diverse range of shows to Southampton. We present a mixture of spectacular touring productions, from musicals to dance, opera, drama, ballet and comedy.
Mayflower Studios (MAST) is a cultural and community hub. We present family shows, dance, musicals, music, comedy, circus, cabaret, spoken word, and visual arts. We put participation at the heart of everything we do.
Both the Theatre and Studios operate under the Mayflower brand. Collectively we provide Inspiring Experiences to all who engage with each venue.
We are seeking a Bar Team Leader to join our Mayflower Studios (MAST) Customer Operations Team on a fixed term contract to assist in the smooth running of the Front of House and bar operation with an emphasis on customer service and promoting ancillary sales through strong leadership and solid teamwork.
Bar Team Leader
Your main responsibilities will be:
* Promoting excellence in customer service in all areas;
* Ensuring a highly motivated and knowledgeable workforce and leading by example at all times;
* Organising and ensuring all staff are carrying out their duties correctly and are following policy and procedures
* Enforcing licensing and health and safety regulations whilst open to the public;
* Dealing with customer issues and being available to deal with problems in the absence of the Duty Manager;
* Following strict procedures for the control of stock and money and enforcing this amongst the wider team;
* Assisting the management team in efficient stock control and stock taking;
* Serving food and drinks in accordance with statutory safety requirements, including food hygiene regulations;
Our ideal applicant will have:
* The ability to lead and motivate a team to maximise sales and consistently achieve targets
* Experience in leading or supervising a team
* Experience in customer service
* Bar experience.
* Experience with being adaptive and working well under pressure.
* Experience of working in a fast-paced environment.
* Ideally be a personal licence holder.
The role will be offered based on an average of 20 hours a week on a fixed term contract (Until May 2026) Hourly rate of £13.36. Due to the nature of our business weekend and evening work is required.
