Regional Transport Solutions Manager - (RTSM26.1)

Working in partnership with M&S, at Gist we deliver industry-leading logistics and supply chain transformation.

We are currently seeking an experienced Regional Transport Solutions Manager. The role is to be based in Chineham, Basingstoke 3 days per week with travel across the network as required.

TheRegional Transport Solutions Manager isaccountablefor leadinga regionalsolutions modelling team, working in collaboration with the National Planning and Regional Distribution Centreleadership teams,tomodel and build an optimum, efficient(service and cost)base schedule forPrimary and Retail operations, whilst seeking wider synergy opportunitieswith Fashion, Home and Beauty (FH&B) to generate value for M&S.

TheRegional Transport Solutions Manager willown theoperating schedules for their region and will be accountable forensuringoptimaltransportcapacity is available to deliver cost-effective serviceperformance to suppliers, RDC and stores.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Working pattern: Monday - Friday with flexibility to meet the business needs

Location: Gist Chineham, RG24 8UB 3 days per week with travel across the network as required


What you’ll do:

* Create a pipeline of schedule efficiency opportunitiesthat contributes to theoverall annual delivery of £10mwithin the function
* Tracks andmonitorsthe implementation of change initiatives against service metricsand associated business case (where stated)
* Undertakescenario-basedmodellingtodeterminefuture investment decisionse.g. Network design andfleet renewal(trailer type)
* Continuously review and update regional base schedule operating plan, aligned to weekly and seasonal volume forecast ensuring that service levels and performance metrics are delivered in full
* Schedulemasterdata(SMD)ownership and governanceforSuppliers(including equipment), RDC inbound andStore deliveries within theallocatedregion
* Model documentschangeandprovideorganisational awareness of commercial implications (cost / benefit)
* Works collaboratively withRegionalRetail Service Managers, holding full ownership and accountability for event planning. This includes leading store delivery schedule surgeries,peakmodelling andupdatingschedule master data to ensure seamlesspeakoperational performance
* Ensuresnew suppliers,new storesand refreshersare modelledutilisingFastnetsystem to ensure networkremainsefficientandallsystemsareset up for successand servicepolicyismaintained
* Owns and manages Transport Planning Mapper system, ensuring all upcoming road closures are accurately reflected in the planto ensure schedule integrity across theregion
* Hosts weekly regional driversharingcall to ensure all availabledriverresource are fullyleveraged, reducing agency and subcon costs
* Lead and develop theTransport Solutions Modelling teamto ensurethat theyhave the required skillset to produce and deliver value for M&S, on a consistent basis, whilst also creating succession development pathways


Who you are:

* Extensive knowledge ofchilled transportlogisticsnetworksincludingexperiencewithin transport planning
* Strongleadership skills
* The ability to engage and influence atappropriate levelsboth within Gist and M&S
* Ability to take a fresh and innovative view to problem solving and analysis
* Analytical approach to review effectiveness and efficiency of current network
* Experience of relevant network planning systems – Paragon (essential) & Enterprise
* Advanced user of Transportexecution systems -Microlise
* Stronglogic and numerical reasoning
* Ability todemonstratefinancial awareness through experience of owning transport budgets
* Ability to manage and prioritise a broad range of initiatives
* The ability to simplify complex problems/messages – adjusting the approach as necessary
* Ability to think creatively to solve problems and to bring colleagues with you
* Stakeholder management skills to provide information, drive decisions and resolve issues
