Job Title: SEMH Teaching Assistant

Salary: £90 – £115 per day (Depending on Experience)

GSL Education are seeking compassionate, resilient, and proactive SEMH Teaching Assistants (TA) to support students across welcoming schools in Newcastle Upon Tyne. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs achieve their full potential.
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students who may experience emotional or behavioural challenges, helping them engage positively with their learning and environment.
Your Role as an SEMH Teaching Assistant Will Include:
* Providing 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs
* Supporting behaviour management and promoting positive behaviour strategies
* Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning plans
* Building strong, trusting relationships with students
* Supporting students’ emotional regulation and social development
* Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and SENCOs
* Always following safeguarding procedures and school policies
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
* Strong communication skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations
* A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach
* Resilience and a proactive attitude
* A relevant qualification (desirable but not essential)
* An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
