Production Manager Overview:
Own production planning, capacity and schedule adherence with 1 to 3 month visibility
Drive OTIF delivery through tight daily and weekly governance, priorities and escalation
Lead the team on targets, discipline and performance management, supporting the Foreman
Embed right-first-time standards, quality control and RCCA to stop repeat issues
Implement planning tools and support the rollout of a new SAP system for stronger control
This Production Manager role reports into senior leadership and exists to stabilise and improve production performance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The current Production Foreman has been carrying planning and capacity responsibilities and it has become too much, so this hire is about restructure and growth. You will lead from the front on planning discipline, keeping delivery under control, and making sure quality standards are met first time. They are open to an up-and-coming Production Manager who can handle day-to-day production pressure and bring structure, pace and accountability.
Day-to-day responsibilities of a Production Manager
Own and manage the production plan aligned to sales demand, capacity and material availability
Lead monthly and weekly scheduling, resolving constraints and risks ahead of execution
Maintain capacity vs demand visibility and adjust plans to protect delivery commitments (up to 3 months ahead)
Drive schedule adherence and reduce reactive firefighting
Carry out daily and weekly MRP runs for builds, sub-assemblies and spares
Implement and maintain planning tools, trackers and governance to support consistent execution
Drive planning meetings with clear communication on progress, actions and expectations
Take accountability for OTIF delivery performance and record delays with RCA to prevent recurrence
Create job cards for all cells, setting targets and smoothing flow from sub-build to final build, test and packing
Escalate and remove blockers quickly with Engineering, Purchasing and Operations
Champion right-first-time culture, adherence to ISO frameworks and robust work instructions
Work closely with QA to strengthen quality control and incoming goods checks where needed
Lead RCCA and corrective actions for quality and process failures
Drive Lean and continuous improvement using data and KPIs to prioritise actions
Lead people management: 1-to-1s, performance management, skills matrix, cross-training and development plans
Ensure full Health & Safety compliance and safe working practices

Proven production leadership experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Strong production planning, scheduling and capacity management capability
Track record of delivering to plan and tight deadlines with clear OTIF ownership
Strong communication and leadership, able to drive targets, discipline and accountability
High attention to detail with a strong focus on quality standards and right-first-time output
Confident making data-driven decisions under pressure and escalating early
Working knowledge of Lean / continuous improvement methods
Clear understanding of how production integrates with the wider business and supply chain
Desirable - Production Manager
Electro-mechanical manufacturing experience
ERP/MRP planning tools experience, including involvement in SAP rollout or adoption
Lean or Six Sigma qualifications
