The Opportunity
This is a critical executive appointment for a regulated investment management business operating in a complex and fast‑moving regulatory environment.
We are looking for a credible, authoritative Chief Risk Officer to lead the second line of defence, hold SMF16 and SMF17, and act as a trusted adviser and challenger to the CEO, Executive team, and Board.
You will set the risk and compliance agenda, shape decision‑making at the highest level, and ensure the business grows within a clear, well‑articulated risk appetite.
What You’ll Do
Lead from the Front
* Own and lead the second line of defence as a full member of the Executive team.
* Set and deliver a clear Risk & Compliance strategy aligned to commercial objectives.
* Provide independent challenge on all material business decisions, change initiatives, and strategic investments.
Shape Governance & Decision‑Making
* Chair the Executive Risk & Compliance Committee.
* Attend and contribute to Board and Board Risk & Compliance Committees.
* Ensure risk, regulatory and Consumer Duty considerations are embedded into strategy, not bolted on.
Own the Regulatory Agenda
* Act as senior point of contact with the regulator.
* Anticipate regulatory change and drive proportionate, high‑quality implementation.
* Ensure accurate, timely regulatory and statutory reporting.
Control the Risk Landscape
* Deliver a robust risk management framework aligned to Group standards.
* Design and execute an effective annual assurance and monitoring plan.
* Oversee product governance, investment risk, liquidity risk, and financial crime standards.
* Provide clear, well‑judged second line opinions that enable informed decisions.
Build a High‑Impact Function
* Lead, develop and inspire a multi‑disciplinary Risk & Compliance team.
* Create a function that is respected, commercially aware, and outcome‑focused.
* Balance constructive challenge with practical solutions in a fast‑paced environment.
What We’re Looking For
* Executive‑level experience within investment management or wealth (ACD experience strongly preferred).
* Deep knowledge of UK regulation, including UCITS, Consumer Duty, value assessment and prudential requirements.
* Strong understanding of investments, derivatives, liquidity risk and portfolio construction.
* Experience managing regulator, depositary and key outsourced service provider relationships.
* A track record of operating enterprise‑wide risk frameworks across multiple lines of defence.
* Comfort operating in complex, change‑driven or Private Equity‑backed environments.
