Join to apply for the Horticulture Apprentice - Level 2, NATIONAL TRUST role at Guardian Jobs
Come and join us on a National Trust apprenticeship, where we’ll support and develop you to play an integral part in our work to protect historic sites, tackle climate change, and help people and nature thrive. No prior experience is needed, just enthusiasm and a desire to learn.
As a Horticulture Apprentice, you’ll be part of our horticulture teams, helping to look after our 224 historic gardens and contributing to our conservation and climate change strategies. Your tasks will include horticultural maintenance, conservation, and garden care to safeguard these sites for the future.
This role can lead to positions such as Assistant Gardener or Gardener, and potentially to a Level 3 Horticulture Supervisor apprenticeship after gaining additional experience.
What It's Like To Work Here
Our gardens are heritage sites and host Europe’s most extensive plant collections. Our gardeners are responsible for conserving and developing these collections and gardens, attracting increasing visitors. You will be part of a professional team caring for these historic gardens.
Your training will include mandatory college blocks and online learning, with expenses and travel paid. Opportunities to visit other National Trust locations and participate in industry training events are available to broaden your experience.
You will primarily work at Nymans, home to a significant plant collection created by generations of the Messel family, and also at Standen, an Arts and Crafts house with a hillside garden featuring a quarry, rosery, kitchen garden, and orchard.
What You'll Be Doing
* Working alongside your mentor on apprenticeship-specific tasks to develop relevant skills and knowledge.
* Attending and preparing for regular review meetings with your training provider.
* Completing mandatory e-learning, courses, and training modules.
