Full Time | SEN Unit within a Mainstream Primary School

Start: September 2026 (handover to begin end of Summer Term)
Teaching Personnel are supporting a wonderful primary school in Burnley with an attached SEN unit, who are seeking a committed and compassionate SEN Teacher to cover a maternity leave. This is a full‑time position starting in September 2026, with a planned handover period beginning towards the end of the summer term to ensure a smooth transition.
The school’s SEN unit supports pupils with a range of additional needs, including ASC, communication and interaction difficulties, and complex learning needs. Your role will involve:
* Leading a small, nurturing class of pupils with diverse SEN needs
* Planning and delivering engaging, adapted lessons that meet pupils’ EHCP targets
* Working closely with a supportive team of TAs, SENCO, and wider school staff
* Creating a safe, structured and positive learning environment
* Using tailored strategies to support emotional regulation and behaviour
* Building strong relationships with pupils, families and external professionals
Qualifications:
* Has QTS or equivalent teaching qualification
* Has experience working with pupils with SEND (ASC experience desirable)
* Is patient, nurturing and confident with positive behaviour approaches
* Can work collaboratively within a specialist team
* Is committed to inclusive learning and holistic pupil development

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
