Do you have a passion for working in the construction industry and would like to become a valuable member of the Highways Maintenance Service?
City Highways are responsible for maintaining and repairing over 500 miles of road and 800 miles of footpaths within the City. We undertake construction and maintenance of highway, traffic and transport infrastructure projects, including major public realm schemes to improve the pedestrian and transport network within the City Centre. We also provide winter service and gully cleaning services in the city.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join us as a Resources Assistant. Working with a team of highway professionals, you'll support resource management and procurement functions, assist in the provision of a cost effective and responsive stores, purchasing and general resourcing service.
This is a full-time, permanent post working 37 hours per week. Core working hours will typically be 7am to 3pm however, you'll be required to work outside of normal office hours, including weekends, due to construction activities or to attend meetings and will be required to work on a regular out of hours standby rota. Based at 90 Leycroft Road however on occasion you'll be required to travel across the city to work from other locations.
What you'll be doing
As a Resources Assistant, you'll receive and issue goods and materials, storing and handling materials, monitoring stock levels and product quality. You'll assist with the daily management and operation of the stores, ensuring the stores and yard area tidy and compliant with health, safety and environmental requirements. Using mechanical equipment, you'll handle and load/unload materials and equipment as well as drive around the city to provide a delivery service of consumable store items.
What you'll need
You'll have experience in quality check of stores good as well as experience in ordering and supplying stores items and construction material. With previous customer service experience, you'll have a professional approach to the store's customers and with people at all levels from a variety of backgrounds. Using proficient IT skills, you'll have the ability to process data, maintain spreadsheets and accurately input data into computerised databases. You'll have experience and be qualified in operating a forklift.
