Early childhood educator

Offer description

Are you an Early Childhood Educator who knows that the smallest gestures leave the biggest marks: the hug that calms a nervous child on their first day, the high-five that celebrates a new skill mastered, the gentle hand that wipes away tears, and the loud cheer that encourages them to try again? If so, you are exactly who we're looking for.

In early years education, "the extra stuff" isn't extra at all. It's the foundation of trust, curiosity and resilience that helps little hearts and minds grow big and strong. We're building a team of passionate professionals who understand this and we want you to be part of it.

ABOUT OUR SETTING

We are a warm, inclusive early years provision based in Wigan, Greater Manchester, serving families and children aged 0–5 years. Our setting is designed to feel like a home away from home – bright, safe and filled with opportunities for exploration, play and connection. We pride ourselves on embedding the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework into every moment, ensuring learning is joyful, responsive and tailored to each lol child's unique interests and needs.

Our team works collaboratively to create an environment where children feel valued, respected and empowered to be themselves. We believe that great early years education is built on strong partnerships with families, and we strive to make every parent and carer feel like an important part of their child's learning journey.

As a Level 3 Early Childhood Educator, you'll be at the heart of our setting, bringing care, creativity and expertise to every aspect of your role:

* Nurture Emotional Wellbeing: Build secure, trusting relationships with each child, supporting them through big feelings, celebrating their successes (no matter how small) and helping them develop self-regulation skills that will serve them for life.

* Plan & Deliver Play-Based Learning: Design and implement engaging, age-appropriate activities aligned with the EYFS seven areas of learning – from sensory play for our youngest children to problem-solving challenges for pre-schoolers. You'll adapt plans to meet individual needs, ensuring every child can thrive.

* Support Development Holistically: Observe and track children's progress, documenting their achievements and identifying areas where additional support may be needed. You'll work closely with SENCOs and other professionals to ensure inclusive practice for all.

* Build Strong Family Partnerships: Communicate regularly with parents and carers, sharing updates on their child's day, listening to their concerns and collaborating to support learning at home. You'll also help organise family events and workshops to strengthen our community bond.

* Maintain Safe, Inclusive Environments: Ensure our setting meets all health and safety standards, from risk assessments to hygiene protocols. You'll help create spaces that reflect the diversity of our community, teaching children to respect and celebrate differences.

* Go the Extra Mile: Whether it's staying late to prepare for a special event, creating a personalised resource for a child with specific interests, or simply taking extra time to listen to a child who needs it – you'll bring the dedication that makes our setting feel like family.

We're looking for someone who combines professional expertise with a genuine passion for working with young children:

* Essential: A Level 3 qualification in Early Childhood Education and Care (or equivalent, e.g., NVQ Level 3, CACHE Level 3 Diploma).

* Essential: Knowledge and understanding of the EYFS framework and how to apply it in practice.

* Essential: A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children – you'll be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check and provide references.

* Experience: Previous experience working with children aged 0–5 years is preferred, with a track record of building positive relationships and supporting holistic development.

* Personal Attributes:

◦ Kindness, patience and empathy – you'll be able to connect with children and families from all backgrounds.

◦ Creativity and flexibility – you'll adapt quickly to the ever-changing needs of a busy early years setting.

◦ Strong communication skills – you'll be able to share information clearly with children, families and colleagues.

◦ A collaborative spirit – you'll thrive as part of a team and be willing to support your colleagues when needed.

* Desirable: Additional training in areas such as SEN support, speech and language development, phonics.
