Payroll Supervisor
On-site - 5 days per week
Salary: Up to £35,000
The Opportunity
We are recruiting for a Payroll Supervisor to join a busy, multi-site organisation supporting a large operational workforce. This role will support the delivery of payroll services for approximately 6,000 employees across multiple UK locations, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely processing.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong payroll experience who is looking to step into or further develop supervisory responsibilities within a high-volume and deadline-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of end-to-end payroll processing across multiple payroll runs each month
* Assist in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for a large, multi-site workforce
* Process payroll changes including starters, leavers, contractual changes, variable hours, overtime and statutory payments
* Act as a key point of contact for payroll queries from employees and internal stakeholders
* Support the Payroll Manager with team coordination, workload allocation and mentoring junior team members
* Ensure payroll processes comply with HMRC regulations, pension auto-enrolment and statutory requirements
* Assist with payroll reconciliations, reporting and audit preparation
* Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes and efficiencies
* Maintain accurate payroll records and ensure data integrity across systems
About You
* Previous payroll experience within a high-volume environment
* Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and statutory payments
* Experience working with complex payroll elements such as variable pay or shift-based workforces would be advantageous
* Previous experience supporting or mentoring team members is desirable
* Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
* Ability to work to strict deadlines and manage multiple priorities
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Payroll qualifications are beneficial but not essential
