Company Overview
We are an established Groundworks and Civil Engineering contractor delivering infrastructure, drainage, foundations, roadworks, and associated civil engineering projects. We operate a modern fleet of plant and equipment and are seeking an experienced Plant Fitter to support our operations.
Job Purpose
The Plant Fitter will be responsible for the inspection, servicing, maintenance, and repair of construction plant to ensure reliability, safety, and minimal downtime across multiple groundworks and civils sites.
Key Responsibilities

Service, maintain, and repair:
*
360 excavators
*
Articulated dump trucks (ADT)
*
Forward tipping dumpers
*
Telescopic forklifts
*
Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults efficiently.
*
Carry out planned preventative maintenance in accordance with service schedules.
*
Attend site breakdowns and carry out timely repairs to minimise operational disruption.
*
Inspect plant to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
*
Complete job sheets, service records, and maintenance documentation accurately.
*
Prepare plant for statutory inspections and ensure compliance.
*
Maintain workshop cleanliness and safe working practices.
Skills & Experience Required
*
Proven experience as a Plant Fitter or Plant Mechanic within groundworks, construction, or civil engineering.
*
Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
*
Ability to fault-find independently and work under pressure.
*
Welding and fabrication experience (desirable).
*
NVQ Level 2/3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent qualification preferred.
*
Full UK driving licence (essential).
