Overview
The Digital Clinical Safety Officer (CSO) is a specialist patient safety role supporting the ongoing delivery of the Digital Clinical System (DCS) across East Cheshire NHS Trust (ECT) and Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MCHFT).
The post holder will evaluate and test the DCS modules as they develop, assess the impact on clinical areas in support of clinical safety, and produce clinical safety case reports, risk and hazard logs with recommendations for improvement as appropriate. The CSO will lead Clinical Governance within the DCS Business as Usual (BAU) Team and work closely with the wider Digital Health agenda, including liaison with CCIOs, CNIOs, CIOs, Associate CIOs (Digital Clinical Leads), Clinical Governance Teams and Patient Safety Teams.
Mid Cheshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides comprehensive hospital and community services for East Cheshire and West Cheshire and Chester. Services include planned and unplanned/emergency care, cardiac and critical care, child health, maternity and intermediate care across Leighton Hospital (Crewe), Victoria Infirmary (Northwich), and Elmhurst Intermediate Care Centre (Winsford).

Responsibilities
* The CSO will act as the appointed Clinical Safety Officer for the DCS and will act on behalf of ECT and MCHFT.
* The CSO will provide specialist clinical safety expertise and support to colleagues across the two Trusts in relation to the DCS.
* The postholder will develop, maintain and refine robust systems and processes for identifying and addressing patient safety risks associated with the DCS and its wider environment.
* The role will optimise and maintain Clinical Risk Management (CRM) processes in line with appropriate national standards, including DCB 0160 and the Health and Social Care Act 2012.
* Ensure Clinical Safety is considered throughout the lifetime of the DCS, identifying and mitigating associated clinical risks through continual and specific clinical risk assessments as the system matures and develops.
