Military Claims Solicitor (NQ - 6 PQE) Cardiff An established Cardiff-based military claims practice is looking to expand, with multiple solicitor hires planned at junior to mid-level. The team represents current and former service personnel in claims brought against the Ministry of Defence, working on matters that combine serious injury work with complex liability and medical issues. The department The military team is large and well resourced, with around 40-50 people across the group, from paralegals through to partner level. The work includes serious physical injury and military deafness claims, with experienced supervision and established processes in place. The team is extremely busy at present, and the roles are being created to support growing caseloads rather than replace leavers. The work You will run your own caseload from an early stage, managing claims against the MOD from initial instruction through to settlement. Caseloads are active and varied, typically involving around 100 files at different stages. The role involves hands-on claimant litigation, including: Taking initial instructions and drafting detailed witness statements Managing significant volumes of disclosure Regular client contact and advice Preparing pleadings, court documents and schedules of loss Instructing counsel and liaising with experts Reviewing complex medical and acoustic evidence Advising on breach of duty and quantum More experienced solicitors will also support the supervision and development of paralegals within the team.
