Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product Development Technician to join a dynamic engineering team within an innovative and fast-growing business in the vehicle safety systems sector. This role is ideal for a hands-on, solutions-focused technician with a strong foundation in electronics and automotive systems, looking to be part of a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting engineering and product development teams with the research, testing, evaluation, and validation of new technologies. This includes developing and improving test procedures, assisting with prototype builds, and carrying out field testing on-site at various UK locations.
You’ll need to bring creativity and initiative to the role, devising effective testing methods and delivering accurate technical feedback. A background in electronics, combined with knowledge of automotive electrical systems, is essential.
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out product and system testing, evaluation, verification, and validation.
* Develop and implement practical testing setups and procedures.
* Participate in product updates and documentation reviews.
* Assist with in-vehicle trials and product installations.
* Provide technical support internally and occasionally off-site.
Key Tasks
* Benchmarking and teardown analysis of vehicle safety products.
* Troubleshooting and fault-finding at the circuit level.
* Assembly and modification of electronic and mechanical prototypes.
* Support for project meetings and engineering reviews.
* Occasional travel to customer sites and test locations across the UK.
Candidate Requirements
* Hands-on experience with electronics, ideally within the automotive or transport sector.
* Strong understanding of analogue/digital circuits, data protocols, and 12/24V vehicle systems.
* Competent in the use of electronic test equipment (e.g. multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators).
* Confident in soldering (SMD/PTH) and prototype assembly.
* Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365.
* Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Full UK driving licence is essential.
