The Role
A progressive and inclusive primary school in Wavertree, Liverpool, is seeking a highly committed, patient, and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis with an immediate start. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with pupils who require additional support to access learning, develop emotional regulation, and build confidence within the school environment.
You will be supporting children with a range of special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, SEMH needs, speech and language difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and moderate learning difficulties. Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis, within small group interventions, or through in-class support, depending on the needs outlined in pupils’ EHCPs and individual support plans.
This position is ideal for someone who understands the importance of consistency, structure, and nurturing relationships in supporting children with SEN. You will play a key role in helping pupils engage with learning, manage emotions, and develop essential social and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
As an SEN Teaching Assistant in Wavertree, your responsibilities will include:
* Providing 1:1 SEN support to pupils with additional needs
* Supporting small group interventions focusing on literacy, numeracy, communication, and emotional regulation
* Assisting pupils to access the curriculum alongside their peers
* Implementing strategies outlined in EHCPs, IEPs, and behaviour support plans
* Supporting pupils with emotional regulation, sensory needs, and social interaction
* Encouraging positive behaviour, independence, and self-confidence
* Working closely with class teachers and the SENCO to adapt support strategies
* Supporting pupils during transitions, playtimes, and lunchtimes
* Using visual supports, sensory resources, and differentiated learning materials
* Monitoring progress and recording observations
* Providing feedback to teachers and contributing to review meetings
* Supporting personal care where required (training provided if necessary)
* Maintaining a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment
* Upholding safeguarding and child protection policies at all times

The Ideal Candidate
The school is looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant who:
* Has experience supporting children with SEN in a school, nursery, or care setting
* Demonstrates patience, empathy, and emotional resilience
