This is a great opportunity for apprentices to gain hands-on experience in the foundry industry within a British-owned company that has been operating for over 150 years. William Lee produces iron castings for international clients such as BMW, Mercedes, Daimler, Borg, Castings, and GT. With four on-site foundries and over 400 staff, there are ample learning opportunities, and you will be mentored by our skilled team while studying for a Level 3 qualification with the AMRC Training Centre.
Completion of the apprenticeships at the University of Sheffield's AMRC Training Centre results in nationally recognized qualifications valued worldwide, opening doors to careers in Engineering Management and Project Engineering across various sectors.
Role & Responsibilities
* Producing precision fixture tooling and grippers for automated grinding areas
* Repairing and modifying pattern and core box tooling, and making patterns for the foundries
* Manufacturing bespoke plant machinery for the maintenance department
* Using gauges and checking equipment for Quality Assurance
* Repairing feeders and running systems
* Working to tight tolerances based on engineering drawings or discussions
Health, Safety & Environment
* Adhering to the company's health, safety, and environmental policies
* Wearing and maintaining correct personal protective equipment
* Reporting and recording all accidents
* Immediate cleanup of spillages and availability of emergency equipment
You will undertake a Level 3 Machining Technician apprenticeship, earning a Level 3 Engineering qualification upon completion. Your initial training will be at the University of Sheffield's AMRC Training Centre in Rotherham for the first year, followed by weekly training sessions.
Work hours are Monday to Friday, with specific start and finish times determined by the employer.
