An exciting opportunity has arisen for a keen and motivated individual to join the Major Trauma Centre (MTC) team at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust.

This post will provide efficient and timely administrative support to the MTC Management team, including the Clinical Leads and Peninsula Trauma Manager. In addition to providing administrative support to the Major Trauma Centre Clinical Co-ordinators (MTCCs) and the MTC rehabilitation (MTRC) team.

The role will also include collecting and recording of data for patients at the MTC on the trauma database, together with the preparation of information and audit data to support clinicians and the MTC in audit, research and analysis of clinical outcome

The successful applicant should be conversant with a variety of computer packages and have experience of patient management systems. The applicants must be able to manage and prioritise their own workload, have excellent communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team. Experience working within a clinical setting required.

Please note that applications from temporary workers who have been engaged with the Trust for a minimum of 3 months are welcome.


Main duties of the job

To provide an efficient and timely administrative and secretarial service to the Major Trauma Centre (MTC) Management team, including:

* MTC Clinical Lead
* MTC Governance Lead
* MTC Rehabilitation Lead
* MTC Co-ordinator Lead and Co-ordinators, Rehabilitation Co-ordinators

To provide administrative support to the Major Trauma Centre Co-ordinators (MTCCs) at the MTC, ensuring accurate collection of data for all major trauma patients, in preparation for the submission of data to the National Major Trauma Registry (NMTR).

To provide secretarial support to the MTC staff as detailed above.

To utilise iPM, NerveCentre, SALUS and other systems/databases to track patients and upload relevant data to the Major Trauma database

***Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, as well as Priority and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon who are able to display recent relevant experience as dictated by the Person Specification.***


Person Specification

* Good communication skills, written and verbal, with ability to demonstrate fluency, clarity and effectiveness at all levels
* Ability to work on own initiative/ ability to work effectively within a large team of people.
* Attention to detail and accuracy
* Time management and organisational skills
* Teaching/Mentoring


Knowledge and Experience

* Proven knowledge of Microsoft Office - to include Word, Excel, Access & Outlook and PowerPoint
* Medical terminology
* Demonstrable experience working within a large clinical setting
* Taking of minutes
* To maintain absolute confidentiality of all information gathered during the course of day to day activities
* Advanced Keyboard skills
* Interest in trauma speciality
* Understanding of National major trauma centre requirements
* Proven knowledge of databases
* Awareness of data protection


Qualifications

* GCSE's 9-4 (A-C) in Maths & English
* NVQ level 2 in either business administration or related subject or equivalent demonstrable experience

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.

£24,465 per annum
