In Nuclear Medicine we administer radioactive pharmaceuticals to patients for diagnosis and therapy. For diagnostic scans, gamma rays are emitted from the patient in the organ of interest, and are detected by detectors to form an image. For therapy, we administer pharmaceuticals that localise in diseased tissue and emit beta or alpha particles, delivering a very localised radiation dose to the disease while sparing healthy tissue.
Responsibilities
* Injecting
* Checking
* Potassium iodate administration
* PET propranolol admin/observation
* Stock ordering
* Morning duties (call bell checks, oxygen checks, tap flushing)
* Help with stress room appointment booking
* In-patient assessments (fitness for scanning, etc.)
* PET patient prep
Immunisation and vaccination report – Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.

About the role
There is ongoing investment in radiopharmacy and imaging technology, and the unit is involved in research trials including molecular radiotherapy trials and local research initiatives relevant to PET/CT and theatre use. The Trust is a large teaching Trust with a focus on high-quality patient care and innovation.
