Early Reading Intervention Assistant
Milk Education is proud to be working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Killingworth to recruit a dedicated Early Reading Intervention Assistant. This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils in EYFS and Key Stage 1 who require additional support with phonics, early reading and literacy development.
The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to deliver targeted interventions that help pupils build confidence, improve fluency and develop a love of reading.
Early Reading Intervention Assistant Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver structured phonics and early reading interventions to small groups and on a 1:1 basis
2. Support the implementation of the school’s chosen phonics programme
3. Monitor, record and report on pupil progress
4. Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs
5. Support pupils with additional needs to access the curriculum
6. Create a positive, nurturing, and engaging learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
7. Experience supporting children in EYFS or KS1
8. A strong understanding of early reading development and systematic synthetic phonics
9. Previous experience delivering targeted interventions (desirable)
10. A patient, encouraging and proactive approach
11. Excellent communication and teamwork skills
12. A relevant TA qualification or recent school-based experience
