This is an opportunity to gain valuable experience in the field of residential childcare, working alongside an existing staff team. The house has on average 4 children and young people aged between 11 and 18 years.
As a casual social care worker, you will support with holiday and sickness cover, to support children and young people in all aspects of their daily lives. This will include shift work, weekends, and sleep overs.
Your personal qualities and life experience will help us create an environment of nurture, reflection, challenge, personal attention and specialist help. Your talents will help young people develop the values, skills, knowledge, self-control and direction that will enable them to fulfil their potential.
You will work as part of a team to provide an excellent standard of care, utilising the PACE approach, the principles of Signs of Safety, and the Promise, to ensure our children and young people are front and centre of all we do, and they experience the best possible care. A working knowledge and understanding of trauma informed practice, the Promise and the challenges faced by children and young people cared for away from home is desirable.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. From 28 February, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
Requirements
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
Salary placing is dependent on experience and qualifications.
