We are seeking to recruit to a full time Paying for Care Advisor post.
The Paying for Care Team provide support to the Community Wellbeing Teams in maximising service users' income through claiming welfare benefits and undertaking financial assessments in respect of residential and non-residential services. The team also provides Direct Payment Support and monitors all Direct Payments and ensures compliance with Direct Payment legislation and guidance.
In addition to completing financial assessments, Paying for Care Advisors identify and assist in claiming unclaimed state benefits.
We are looking for a self-motivated and well organised individual with experience of working with vulnerable adults. The successful applicant will be a resilient team member with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate sensitive information appropriately.
The role is to undertake financial assessments of users of Adult Services to determine financial contributions towards services under East Riding charging policies and the Care Act. In addition to completing financial assessment the role is to provide benefit checks, assist with claiming relevant state and allied benefits for users of Adult Services and to assist and represent service users with reconsiderations and appeals of both benefit and charging decisions.
Paying for Care Advisors also support the Direct Payment team with concerns that have been raised as part of their audit function so an understanding of Direct Payments would be desirable but full on the job training around this aspect of the role will be given.
This position will require the candidate to have a good knowledge of Adult Services including charging polices and an in-depth knowledge of DWP benefits. You will also hold good interpersonal and communication skills, be adaptable and able to manage a varied and complex workload with a minimum of supervision.
