The Waste Disposal team are responsible for the management of over 100,000 tonnes of household waste collected from our residents and other activities across the city. We are looking for an Efficiency Officer to join our small team, helping to analyse and present performance data to identify trends, operational strengths and areas for improvement, supporting continuous improvement across Waste Collection and Disposal Services. Working closely with operational manager and front-line teams, you will play a key role in helping us deliver efficient, high-quality service for our residents. You will analyse service performance, identify trends and inefficiencies, and turn complex information into clear, actionable recommendations that support strategic decision making. You’ll develop and maintain performance dashboards, contribute to service reviews, and help drive initiatives that improve operational efficiency and customer outcomes. The successful candidate will also support benchmarking, campaign evaluation and service uptake analysis, helping to ensure services remain effective, responsive and aligned with best practice across the sector. About You To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally have... • Experience of using IT software packages including Microsoft Office, Power BI • Experience, knowledge and skills to perform data collection, data analysis and data integration • Experience of measuring performance, compiling and sharing performance data and reports • Business acumen to align recommendations and efficiencies with organisational goals. Knowledge of political sensitivity is also required. • Ability to understand relevant legislation and statutory requirements to ensure compliance • Demonstrable experience of identification and implementation of solutions for continuous improvement • Preparation of reports • Ability to multi-task between work streams and work to strict deadlines • Methodical approach to work and ability to organise and prioritise own workload • Problem solving skills • Educated to a degree standard or equivalent in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience. • Minimum Grade C GCSE Maths & English or equivalent • Knowledge and awareness of the Equality Act 2010 and how it applies to this job • Ensure that equality issues are identified, promoted and managed in all areas of your work. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively work with a range of stakeholders and communicate with a range of audiences. • Ability to use active listening skills. • Able to work as a team member and independently. • Use own initiative and have proactive attitude. • Ability to forward think and try innovative solutions.
