Working to support adults, and their families, who have complex social needs and are more vulnerable as a result of disability, exclusion, or diminished capacity, you'll maximise their potential to live independently.
You will assess social care needs using a person centred and strengths-based approach and contribute to the development of care and support plans. The role will require you to manage a caseload, including assessment of risk through direct work, within a quality assurance process. A focus of the role will be to ensure vulnerable people are safeguarded in line with ECC's statutory obligations.
This Community Support Worker opportunity sits in our ASC Colchester North/South Locality Neighbourhood Team in Colchester.
The Team
We work with adults age 18+ and their carers in the community. As a Local authority Adult Social Care Team, the team remit is in line with the statutory responsibility conferred to the Local Authority under the Care Act 2014. The Team is responsible for Care Act Assessments and Annual Reviews as well as undertaking Safeguarding Enquiries and working with our CCG colleagues in undertaking Assessments as part of the NHS CHC process. The work is varied and offers the opportunity to work with a diverse age range as well as engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds and situations. No two days are the same.
You will have opportunities to undertake training and to develop skills and understanding regarding your role.
The working pattern of the Team is Monday to Friday covering core hours 9am to 5.30pm. You will be required to work from our office base on 2 days Monday and Wednesday each week.

What We’re Looking For
You’ll bring a strong ability to build effective relationships with adults and their families in times of challenge and crisis. You will have the drive and passion to want to make a difference, and a willingness to learn. Ideally you will have some experience of activity-based work with adults in a social care setting and some knowledge of legislative and policy guidance applicable within social care settings. You will ideally have knowledge of the local communities. You will ideally have experience of case management for example, planning and prioritising your case load, be flexible and working as part of a Team.
This role involves travelling around Essex. A driving licence and car - or the ability to meet the mobility requirements of the role through other means - is essential.
Vaccination & COVID-19
In line with government legislation, all colleagues who work in a CQC registered care home or will need to attend such a setting as part of their role must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This role has been deemed in scope of this legislation and therefore to be considered for the role you must confirm on application you are fully vaccinated or will be fully vaccinated by November 11th 2021, or that you are exempt. Evidence of vaccination or exemption will be required as part of the pre‑employment checks ECC will undertake on you.
