We are looking for
a HCPC-registered clinical scientist to join our dynamic team at UHBW as a diagnostic radiation physicist. You will work within Radiation Science Services (RSS) to provide diagnostic radiation imaging, and radiation and laser protection services to departments within UHBW and to external customers in the region.
You will be joining a friendly team of healthcare science specialists who work with a full range of imaging equipment which includes mobiles, dental, DR rooms, CT and interventional imaging rooms. This position may be offered as a Band 6 for applicants who do not meet all the criteria, with a supported development to Band 7 on completion of HCPC registration as a clinical scientist.
You will work closely with clinical teams, helping to provide a safe radiation workplace and having a direct impact on patient care.
Responsibilities include
oActing as an operator under the definitions of the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposures) Regulations 2017 (IR(ME)R)
oParticipating in the physics quality assurance service for radiation imaging and associated equipment
oParticipating in optimisation of clinical imaging equipment, protocols and techniques
oParticipating in the systems to measure and assess patient radiation doses.
oParticipating in the systems to measure and assess staff and environmental radiation doses.
oContributing to the development of methods and protocols to evaluate radiation measurement equipment guided by legislative requirements and national guidelines.
oSupporting the Radiation Protection Adviser(s) in all areas that use diagnostic X-rays.
oAssisting in the teaching of radiological physics and radiation protection outside the department including FRCR, IRR, IR(ME)R and radiographic education.
oSupervising trainee clinical scientists and technologists.
