Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to establish and implement robust costing systems across our UK and German manufacturing operations. This role will be instrumental in reviewing existing cost allocation methodologies, designing systematic costing frameworks, and ensuring accurate product costing across multiple production projects.
We are open to this role being undertaken as 6 month fixed term contract or, for the right person, will also consider this as a permenant position.
Key Responsibilities
* Review existing costing practices across UK and German operations and design standardised costing systems and formulas for production cost allocation
* Develop the mechanical framework for how costs are captured, calculated, and distributed across various production projects
* Analyse and calculate material costs (raw materials, components, consumables) and material consumption patterns across production lines
* Establish protocols for overhead allocation and calculate direct and indirect manufacturing costs across multiple products and projects
* Monitor production efficiency, evaluate cost variances, and identify cost-saving opportunities
* Prepare detailed cost analysis reports for management and ensure consistency in costing approaches between both facilities
* Work closely with finance teams in UK and Germany
Essential Requirements
* Proven hands-on experience in manufacturing accounting (minimum 5 years) with demonstrated expertise in production costing and cost allocation methodologies
* Strong track record of implementing costing systems in manufacturing environments
* Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent) preferred
* Expert knowledge of production costing principles including standard costing, job costing, and absorption costing
* Advanced Excel skills for complex cost calculations and modelling
* Fluent English (essential); German language skills desirable
