Airfreight Export Operator – Exciting Opportunity with a Forward-Thinking Freight Forwarder

Hours: Monday – Friday, 09:00 – 17:30
Annual Leave: 25 days + Bank Holidays + Birthday
Pension: Company scheme (enrolment after 3 months)
Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum

The Role
As an Airfreight Export Operator, you will coordinate and manage airfreight export shipments from origin to final destination, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with company procedures, airline requirements, Dangerous Goods regulations, and international trade laws.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage end-to-end air export operations, including booking, execution, and shipment follow-up
* Prepare and issue export documentation (MAWB/HAWB, commercial invoices, packing lists, export declarations, shipper’s letters of instruction)
* Coordinate customs clearance and handle Dangerous Goods (DG) shipments per IATA regulations
* Verify DG declarations, MSDS/SDS, and packaging prior to acceptance
* Issue and manage required export certificates (Certificates of Origin, DG Declarations, Shipper’s Certificates, Health/Inspection certificates)
* Liaise with airlines, ground handlers, customs brokers, transport providers, overseas agents, and customers
* Arrange cargo pickup, airport handling, screening, and final loading
* Track shipments and provide proactive updates to customers and internal stakeholders
* Resolve operational issues efficiently and maintain accurate shipment records
* Verify freight charges, manage cost control, and support invoicing processes
* Assist with audits, compliance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in air export operations or freight forwarding
* Strong knowledge of air freight processes, export documentation, and IATA regulations
* Proficient in freight forwarding systems and MS Office
* Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills
* Strong customer service orientation
* Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple shipments
* Commercially aware with a proactive, can-do attitude
