SEN Teaching Assistant Location: Walsall Start Date: September 2025 Do you have a passion for supporting children with special educational needs to do their best in a caring and supportive setting? We are looking for a committed and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to become part of our dynamic secondary school community in Walsall. In this role, you will support students with diverse Special Educational Needs within a mainstream secondary environment, enabling them to engage with the curriculum and thrive in all aspects of school life. Role Responsibilites: Deliver personalised support to students with a range of Special Educational Needs, including learning, communication, social and physical difficulties. Collaborate with teachers and SEN coordinators to help implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and targeted support strategies. Assist in managing classroom behaviour and fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Provide support to students during lessons, as well as during breaks and social activities when required. Observe, monitor and report on students’ academic progress and overall well-being. Encourage and nurture students’ independence and self-confidence. Role requirements: Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs, ideally within a secondary school environment. Demonstrated patience, empathy and excellent interpersonal abilities. Proven capability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Strong communication skills combined with a proactive, solution-focused mindset. Relevant qualifications are preferred, or a willingness to pursue training in SEN support.
