Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic Fishmonger to join our team every Saturday on Salisbury Market. The ideal candidate will have a background in food production and preparation, with a particular emphasis on seafood. This role requires an individual who is knowledgeable about fish butchery, food safety standards. As a Fishmonger, you will be responsible for providing high-quality seafood products to our customers while ensuring the highest standards of freshness and safety.
Duties
* Prepare and display a variety of fresh fish and seafood products for sale.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the fish counter and storage areas.
* Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and best practices in handling seafood.
* Assist customers with their selections, providing recommendations on cooking methods and recipes.
* Perform butchery tasks including filleting, skinning, and portioning fish as required.
* Monitor stock levels and assist in inventory management to ensure product availability.
* Stay updated on seasonal fish availability and sustainable sourcing practices.
Qualifications preferred but not essential as training will be given.
* Experience in food production or culinary roles, particularly within a seafood context.
* Skills in food preparation techniques, including butchery of fish.
* Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in handling perishable goods.
* Previous experience in a restaurant or kitchen environment is highly desirable.
* Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers regarding their needs.
