Role Overview The Finance Controller is a senior, hands-on role within the group finance function, reporting directly to the Head of Finance. The post holder will take full ownership of the month-end close process, lead the accounting team, and act as a key driver of financial controls and reporting quality across the group. Key Responsibilities Own the end-to-end month-end close process and produce monthly consolidated management accounts within agreed timelines Lead, manage, and develop the accounting team, setting clear expectations and supporting professional growth Run the annual audit process as primary contact for external auditors, ensuring a clean and well-prepared audit file Support tax advisors with the preparation of corporation tax returns and all relevant supporting documentation Prepare and submit VAT returns accurately and on time across all group entities Prepare statutory accounts for all entities in compliance with UK GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements Own the group cash flow forecast, manage day-to-day cash positions, and produce weekly cash reporting for senior leadership Manage group banking relationships and execute banking tasks across entities Lead the rollout of Microsoft Business Central (ERP) to group companies, working with internal stakeholders and external implementation partners Project-manage the consolidation of group banking to a single provider Integrate future acquired entities into group finance processes, systems, and controls Ensure appropriate financial controls are in place and operating effectively across the group Own the balance sheet reconciliation process, maintaining accuracy and integrity at all times Skills and Experience Qualified accountant — ACA preferred; ACCA or CIMA also considered Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is highly desirable Advanced Excel skills, with the ability to work accurately with large and complex datasets Proven experience managing or mentoring junior finance staff Track record of owning month-end close and producing consolidated management accounts Experience of audit processes, statutory accounts preparation, and VAT compliance Exposure to cash flow forecasting and treasury management within a group structure Continuous improvement mindset — always looking for smarter, more efficient ways of working Genuine interest in how AI and automation can improve the quality and efficiency of finance functions Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, acquisitive environment with the ability to manage competing priorities What We Offer Competitive salary benchmarked to market rate for a qualified Finance Controller A genuine opportunity to shape how group finance operates during a period of significant growth Exposure to ERP implementation, acquisition integration, and senior stakeholder engagement A collaborative, forward-thinking team with a strong commercial focus Real career progression in a growing, PE-backed group
