Job Description
This role offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a team responsible for providing assurance that we are addressing security risks and enhancing our security culture. As a Corporate Security Advisor, you will be a role model for security, promoting a positive culture and cultivating good behaviors. You will help protect the organization from security threats, especially those affecting IT, data, and information.
In this role, you will:
* Work with risk owners across the organization to understand, assess, and mitigate cyber and data security risks.
* Drive initiatives to ensure employees and data owners classify and manage data securely throughout its lifecycle.
* Partner with Defra group Security to develop and implement security strategies, policies, and processes.
* Lead efforts to improve security culture through training, communications, phishing exercises, and technological solutions to influence behaviors.
* Provide assurance to the Security Risk Owner (SRO) and other senior leaders.
* Maintain networks with security professionals to stay informed about the latest developments.
The wider team handles diverse tasks. You will be involved in various activities, offering opportunities to gain broad experience.

The team
You will join a small, welcoming team within the Corporate Management, Assurance, and Security team, focused on protecting and empowering the organization. You will have access to professional security advice within Defra group Security and collaborate with subject matter experts in the Environment Agency.
Experience/skills Required
The external security landscape is complex and evolving. While you do not need to be a security professional, the following skills and experience are essential:
* Understanding of broader security influences to enable continuous improvement.
* Experience with cybersecurity measures and secure data management.
* Self-motivated, organized, with the ability to manage multiple demands.
* Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues to jointly manage risks.
* Excellent communication skills, adaptable to different audiences.
* Experience in briefing senior colleagues.
* Comfort with analyzing data to identify issues and trends.
Desirable skills include proficiency in software like Excel and PowerBI for data management and reporting, and risk management experience.

This is a hybrid role; you will be based in your nearest office in England and can work from home. Some travel and overnight stays will be required.
