We are seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Head of Planning and Supply Chain to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end production and material planning, coordinating supply, inventory, and warehouse activities to optimise efficiency, meet delivery deadlines, and ensure the smooth operation of the supply chain.
The role requires a strong understanding of ERP/MRP systems, material planning, inventory control, and production scheduling, with a focus on process optimisation and continuous improvement across manufacturing and supply chain operations.
The role also includes line management and development of a small team of quality professionals, ensuring clear objectives, high performance, and ongoing professional development. This includes performance reviews, skills development planning, and succession planning within the quality function.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Material Planning
* Develop, update, and maintain detailed production and material plans to ensure on-time delivery and efficient use of resources.
* Schedule and coordinate all production activity across the manufacturing facility.
* Plan and manage raw materials, packaging, and consumables to support production requirements.
* Ensure all production lines are stocked with the correct materials at the right time.
* Manage day-to-day production jobs, ensuring optimal use of equipment, labour, and materials.
Supply Chain, Warehouse & Inventory Management
* Oversee warehouse and inventory planning activities, ensuring accurate stock levels and material availability.
* Monitor inventory performance, including stock turns, shortages, excess, and obsolescence.
* Work closely with warehouse team to ensure accurate stock control and system integrity.
* Maintain accurate inventory, production, and planning data within ERP systems.
Intercompany & Supplier Coordination
* Liaise with Sales, Manufacturing, Quality, and Warehouse to maintain clear communication on job progress, priorities, and delivery timelines.

* Communicate delays, shortages, risks, or backlogs to management in a timely manner.
* Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production, inventory, and supply chain performance.
* Contribute to and support continuous improvement initiatives across production planning, inventory management, and supply chain processes.
Leadership, Compliance & Governance
* Line manage and develop a small team of quality professionals, setting clear objectives and supporting performance and development.
* Ensure compliance with company QSHE policies and procedures, and any other regulatory or operational requirements of the role.
* Carry out additional duties as required within the scope of the role.
Candidate Requirements
* Proven experience in production planning, material planning, or scheduling within a manufacturing environment.
* Strong understanding of supply chain, inventory, and warehouse operations.
* Experience coordinating with suppliers and managing material availability.
* Experience with ERP/MRP systems (ideally Microsoft Dynamics 365).
* Advanced PC skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
* Highly numerate with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively across cross‑functional teams.
* Previous manufacturing experience preferred
Qualifications/Education
* Ideally degree‑educated or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Engineering, Supply Chain).
* Evidence of continuous learning and professional development is desirable.
