Overview
We are seeking a Planner to join our Life Science team in Macclesfield.
You will support the Project Lead Senior Planner in the successful delivery of the works in connection with the framework of project.
This role will suit a professional planner who wishes to have exposure to develop broad skills across a diverse range of projects in a pharmaceutical sector.
To provide progress information and reports to the Divisional Senior Planning Manager.
Framework Scope: Intended to deliver up to £20 million worth of projects each year and is currently growing. The scope includes a diverse range of small to medium-sized construction and refurbishment works.
Current projects include but not limited to:
* Increasing changing room capacity by installing additional lockers
* Replacing ageing calorifiers
* Refurbishment of packing line rooms and laboratories
* Construction of new car parks
* Demolition of redundant buildings
Projects typically range in complexity and value, from minor upgrades to more substantial refurbishments and new builds, supporting both operational and infrastructure improvements across the estate.

Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
* Responsible for the onsite planning and reporting for the delivery of projects, reporting directly to the Project Senior Lead Planner.
* Prepare external and internal progress reports for the live projects (Project Dashboards).
* Provide Design, Procurement and Construction progress evidence such as key trade KPI’s, Tender Event Schedule updates, Design Deliverable Schedules or MIDP progress updates.
* Baselining programmes and preparing rescheduled progress reports with analysis of the Critical Path and Float Paths near Critical in an NEC Contract Environment.
* Prepare Planned vs Actual production ‘S’ Curves to support communication of site progress where appropriate.
* Articulate and present progress of preconstruction information.
* Prepare short‑term look‑ahead programmes and communicate clearly to the production team future targets to be achieved.
* Prompt the delivery team, reminding them of key pending milestone dates and to ‘make ready’ to deliver them.
* Regularly review programmes, outputs, and phasing in collaboration with Senior Planner and/or site delivery team.
* Assist in developing KPI tracking schedules to maintain information and manage programme submissions from subcontractors.
* Actively look for risks and identify potential mitigation strategies for discussion and agreement with the project team prior to implementation.
* Collate key programme output information for trades and benchmark data for the Divisional Senior Planning Manager and Senior Planner.
* Contribute to the development of baseline programmes covering design, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover—ensuring logic links and a clear critical path.
* Contribute to updating / impacting programmes for change and variations.
* Ensure that planning decisions align with Sisk’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
* Ensure all programme updates are NEC compliant to achieve client acceptance.
* Support the development of construction methodologies and logistic plans in collaboration with Senior Planner and/or site delivery teams to demonstrate safe and effective sequencing of work.
Experience & Essential Skills & Experience
* Relevant construction/planning experience (laboratory experience desirable).
* Good construction technical knowledge including MEP and its commissioning.
* Experience working in a dynamic team.
* Experience planning and reporting on NEC projects / JCT projects.
* Experienced in the use of Primavera P6 and Asta Power Project.
* Excellent IT skills using Blue Beam / Autodesk Model Viewers / 4D Synchro Planning (desirable).
* Confident in preparing and delivering presentations.
* Familiarity with industry best practices.
Desirable Skills & Experience
* Knowledge of BIM processes and collaborative data environments (CDEs).
* Experience producing or reviewing 2D/4D phasing models.
* Evidence of continuous professional development (e.g., CPD events, professional body engagement).
* Experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues.
Qualifications & Training
Essential
* Professional Qualification desirable (CIOB / ICE etc.).
* Relevant Degree or diploma qualifications in Construction Eng. / Man.
* SMSTS Certificates / CSCS Skills Card appropriate to your level.
Desirable
* Membership (or eligibility for membership) of a professional body such as CIOB, ICE or APM.
* Advanced training in Asta Powerproject (progress analysis, S‑curve reporting, cost/resource management).
* Training in Synchro, BIM and collaborative data platforms.
* Training in contract awareness (e.g., NEC, JCT).
* Presentation skills training and/or leadership training.
