There is an exciting opportunity to join Bellway, one of the UK’s largest house builders. Our Head Office located in Newcastle upon Tyne is looking to recruit a Senior FP&A Accountant to join the Group Finance Department.
The Role
The role of Senior FP&A Accountant will report to the Group Finance Manager. The Senior FP&A Accountant plays a critical role in supporting the financial planning, analysis, and reporting processes for the business. This position is responsible for delivering accurate forecasts, budgets, and insightful analysis to drive strategic decision-making and improve financial performance.
Principal accountabilities of the role include:
1. Support in the production and delivery of the existing suite of management reports, ensuring information is delivered accurately and on time
2. Continually look to challenge existing reporting solutions and develop innovative and insightful new reports and analysis
3. Assist in the expansion of the new data lake, ensuring new information is both accurate and available on-demand
4. Working cross-functional, support the rationalisation of reports across the business
5. Manage ad hoc data requests, ensuring that data is collected, analysed and reported accurately and efficiently
6. Partner with Heads of Department to provide ‘expert’ support in the analysis and interpretation of data within their function
7. Whilst working with Heads of Department, identify and implement efficiencies relating to the reporting of information within their function
8. Support the Regional Chairmen to understand regional performance and underlying trends
9. Assist in the management and preparation of the Group Annual Budget
10. Work on adhoc projects as required, working both as part of a team and also independently
11. Identify risks and develop solutions to enhance the control environment both within the FP&A department and the wider Group
12. Support in the integration of new reporting software as required, including the introduction of a new BI solution
Experience, Qualifications and Skills
Experience
13. 5+ years post qualification experience, working in a reporting role at mid-management level
14. Strong knowledge of VBA and / or SQL - Desirable
15. Experience of developing dashboards in BI tools such as Microsoft PowerBI - Desirable
Qualifications and Training
16. Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
Skills and Aptitude
17. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
18. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, in particular Excel and PowerPoint
19. Experience in developing and maintaining complex excel-based models
20. Methodical with a strong attention to detail
21. Focus on meeting deadlines, and will ‘go the extra mile’ to ensure that compromises are not taken to achieve them
22. Enthusiastic, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
23. Ability to work cross functional to ensure the needs of all stakeholders are met
24. Strong commercial acumen
