An experienced Head of PMO is required to lead and establish a Programme Management Office function supporting a major, multi-phase transformation programme for a high-profile external client. This is a significant opportunity to shape PMO delivery, embed best practice, and ensure excellence in governance, reporting, and programme control.
Reporting to a senior portfolio leadership role, you will be responsible for building and leading a high-performing PMO team, ensuring that programme support services are clearly defined, consistently delivered, and continuously improved. You will work closely with senior programme leadership to drive quality outcomes and contribute to a wider PMO community, sharing knowledge and best practice.
This is a fixed-term contract role of approximately 12 months. The role requires eligibility for Security Clearance (Level 2), which must be maintained throughout the assignment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and develop the PMO team to deliver high-quality, value-adding programme support services
* Establish and embed robust governance frameworks, reporting structures, and control processes
* Implement and manage RAID (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies) and change control processes
* Own and oversee stage gate governance to support programme lifecycle control
* Ensure accurate, timely, and insightful reporting to support decision-making and transparency
* Create and maintain a centralised, auditable document repository (single source of truth)
* Drive consistency in programme standards, tools, and methodologies
* Leverage technology and automation to improve PMO efficiency and reduce manual overhead
* Facilitate effective stakeholder engagement and communication across multiple organisations
* Collaborate with senior programme leadership to ensure successful delivery outcomes
Essential Requirements (Key Skills & Experience)
* Proven experience leading a PMO within a BPO or client-facing service environment
* Strong expertise in:
* RAID management
* Dependency management
* Change control frameworks
* Stage gate governance
* Demonstrable experience supporting large-scale, complex transformation programmes involving multiple stakeholders, partners, and suppliers
* Ability to establish governance, reporting, and a single source of truth across programmes
* Strong leadership capability with experience building, motivating, and developing PMO teams
* Excellent written communication skills, including production of high-quality programme documentation
* P3O Practitioner certification (essential)
Desirable Experience
* Experience supporting an Oracle Fusion ERP implementation programme
* PRINCE2 Practitioner and/or MSP Practitioner certification
* Experience working within highly regulated or security-cleared environments
