We are working closely alongside with local authority in Caerphilly to assist with the appointment of a Social Worker on a 3-month contract, highly likely to be extended at client's discretion. The Social Worker (Children's Services) role is a professional post (Grade 9) within the Social Services and Housing Directorate of Caerphilly County Borough Council. The primary job purpose is to deliver services to children and families in accordance with their assessed needs and to meet statutory and directorate requirements. The position is based at various locations, including Woodfieldside, Ty Gilfach, Ty Pontygwindy, and Rhymney. The successful candidate will be a Social Care Qualified professional, accountable for their own social work practice, and dedicated to achieving outcome-focused intervention plans for children and their families.
Responsibilities
* Provide high-quality assessment and/or care management to children and families who require ongoing social services intervention.
* Assess need in accordance with Directorate policies, procedures, and relevant assessment frameworks, including Working Together to Safeguard Children.
* Ensure effective multidisciplinary working with partner agencies, liaising and working jointly with staff of other Directorates and agencies.
* For those in the Fostering Team, assist in reaching recruitment targets and improving the retention of foster carers in line with the Fostering Recruitment and Retention Strategy.
* Complete statutory supervision and support requirements for Foster Carers, including regular home visits, formal supervision visits, unannounced visits, and Foster Carer Reviews.
* Diploma/Degree in Social Work or a predecessor qualification.
* Registration as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales (or relevant bodies if registered elsewhere).
* Social Workers qualifying after 1 April 2016 are required to complete the CPEL (Continuing Professional Education and Learning) within the first three years of practice.
* Must hold a Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence.
* Experience of working with children and young people, their families and carers.

* Registration as a Social Worker with Social Care Wales (or relevant bodies if registered elsewhere).
* Social Workers qualifying after 1 April 2016 are required to complete the CPEL within the first three years of practice.
