About the Role
Our client is seeking a
Health Physics Site Supervisor
to oversee and support radiological monitoring teams at the Harwell site. The successful candidate will provide supervision, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain high standards of radiological protection in support of site operations.
This role involves close collaboration with Radiological Protection Advisers, Task Supervisors, and other stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of radiological protection measures, as well as contributing to training, mentoring, and emergency preparedness.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate the work of radiological monitoring personnel.
* Conduct inspections and checks to ensure compliance with safety documentation and standards.
* Review survey quality and reports, providing guidance where necessary.
* Assist with inspections, audits, and investigations to support regulatory compliance (IRR 2017).
* Contribute to the development of operating procedures, standards, instructions, and risk assessments.
* Deliver radiological protection training and inductions.
* Provide operational advice on radiological protection matters to supervisors and engineers.
* Collaborate with other departments for effective workload planning and resource use.
* Support site emergency arrangements, including out-of-hours response and exercises.
* Mentor and develop Chargehands covering a 24-hour shift operation.
* Manage and deliver training programmes through LMS, ViP, and S-466.
* Act as ASQEP for clearance of radiologically clean/out-of-scope items.
Qualifications & Experience
* National qualification to at least NVQ Level 3 in a relevant subject (desirable).
* Practical experience in radiological protection.
* Supervisory experience (desirable).
* Strong knowledge of Ionising Radiation Regulations and radiological protection best practices.
* Awareness of Environmental Permitting Regulations.
* Solid understanding of radiological protection instrumentation and dosimetry systems.
