Job Description:
We are recruiting an experienced Social Worker within our Permanence Service, primarily focused on adoption. We seek a committed, creative, resilient individual capable of advancing adoption plans in our busy service.
This is a fixed-term contract for several months.
Cheshire West and Chester Council aims to foster an environment where everyone can thrive, guided by our core values of Teamwork, Honesty, Respect, Innovation, Value for Money, and Empowerment.
The Permanence Teams in Ellesmere Port and Winsford handle care, support, permanence planning, and statutory functions for Looked After Children. Each team has an Adoption Social Worker responsible for children with a permanence plan of adoption. The teams manage the progression and implementation of children’s permanence plans from the point a Care Order is made. The service is borough-wide, requiring travel between Chester, Winsford, and Ellesmere Port.
Your role involves working with children for whom adoption is the final care plan, acting as their primary Social Worker and Family Finder to facilitate their adoption process. You will collaborate with Social Workers in Child Protection/Court Teams and assume responsibility for children after Placement Orders are made. You will deliver high-quality adoption services, including profiling, matching children with adopters, and managing transition plans and procedures leading to Adoption Orders. You will participate in ADM meetings where adoption plans are discussed.
Our Children's Social Care team is dedicated to improving outcomes for children through consistent, high-quality services and strong partnerships. We promote shared learning and professional development, supporting your growth and contribution to service improvement.
We emphasize collaborative, trauma-informed practice and motivate creative planning and decision-making with children, families, and partners to achieve positive outcomes, focusing on prevention at all levels.
Our social workers report feeling supported, valued, and part of a team, with access to excellent training and career development opportunities. Our leadership prioritizes approachability, compassion, and recognition of staff efforts.
We invest in our workforce with benefits such as:
* Excellent work-life balance, flexible and remote working options
* Modern, refurbished office environments
* Opportunities for progression and development
* Flexible hours and generous annual leave
* High-quality supervision and reflective practice
* Free parking
* Payment of Social Work England registration
* Relocation allowances where applicable
We support flexible, agile working arrangements to enhance work/life balance, including a hybrid model post-COVID, combining remote work with team collaboration.
Our leadership team brings extensive experience and knowledge to improve children’s outcomes across Cheshire West and Chester.
