Hybrid with occasional London travel (fully expensed)
We’re working with a genuinely mission‑led tech business building next‑generation investigative platforms, and they’re looking for a Data Engineer to own one of the most critical parts of their product.
This isn’t just another ETL role. You’ll sit at the heart of a complex data ecosystem, shaping how raw, disparate records become structured, usable intelligence that directly supports real-world investigations.
The role
You’ll take ownership of ingesting and normalising data from legacy RMS platforms such as Niche and Athena into a modern, unified system. A key part of your work will be designing and maintaining the schema reconciliation layer, as well as building the pipelines that connect CAD, RMS and investigative logs into a coherent event sequence model.
Put simply, you’ll be solving messy, high-impact data problems that most teams never get near.
What you’ll be doing
* Building robust ETL pipelines to extract and transform data from legacy systems
* Designing schema mapping and reconciliation layers across multiple data sources
* Developing event‑sequence and temporal data models (CAD → RMS → investigation pipelines)
* Working with highly sensitive datasets, ensuring privacy, security and integrity at all times
* Supporting the evolution of a core platform dependency that underpins the entire product
What they’re looking for
* Strong experience in ETL workflows and data pipeline engineering
* Proven background in schema design, mapping and reconciliation
* Experience working with sensitive data (PII, health, or similarly regulated datasets) — this is essential
* A solid understanding of temporal or event‑driven data modelling
Nice to have (but not essential)
* Experience building UI‑based ingestion tools where APIs aren’t available
* Exposure to video or streaming data pipelines
Why it’s worth a conversation
* Salary up to £80,000 with potential equity
* Real ownership of a critical product component
* Work on complex, meaningful problems with genuine societal impact
* Occasional travel to London (all expenses covered)
* A chance to shape how a cutting‑edge platform is built from the ground up
