Chef Tutor – Aurora Foxes
Location: Minehead, Somerset

Contract: Term time plus additional days and training ( weeks per year)
Welcome to Aurora Foxes, a specialist college and training hotel for young people with learning disabilities, situated in the friendly seaside town of Minehead. Foxes is a very special place.

Your Role as a Chef Tutor
As a Chef Tutor at Aurora Foxes, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, engaging and individualised Food Preparation sessions. You’ll inspire, challenge and support every student, helping them develop the practical skills and confidence they need to thrive in both life and work.
This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference, supporting young adults with learning disabilities to achieve meaningful outcomes and move towards independence.
You’ll Be:
1. Planning, preparing and resourcing highly individualised sessions that follow the published scheme of work—even when you may be absent.
2. Delivering inspiring and engaging lessons where every student is challenged, motivated and fully supported throughout.
3. Carrying out robust assessments, maintaining accurate tracking and reporting (including baselining, target setting and reviewing) and keeping all records up to date.
4. Using RARPA principles (Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement) to support meaningful progression for each student.
5. Working collaboratively with colleagues across the college, including Therapy teams and House Managers—to analyse performance and ensure students make progress in line with their abilities.
6. Responding to underachievement with immediate intervention strategies, and adjusting targets where students exceed expectations.
7. Leading and directing Learning Support Practitioners (LSPs) within your sessions and promoting a professional, supportive environment for both students and colleagues.
8. Prepare, cook and present high‑quality meals in line with the agreed menu, following standardised recipes and specification cards set by the Head Chef.
9. Ensure all food is prepared and served to a consistently high standard, modelling industry‑standard techniques and presentation for learners.
10. Maintain full compliance with food hygiene, food safety and health & safety legislation, ensuring standards are met at all times.

Skills and Qualifications
What You’ll Bring
11. Level 2 English & Maths
12. City & Guilds (or equivalent) Level 2 in Hospitality and Catering
13. Level 3 qualification (desirable or willingness to work towards)
14. Level 4 Certificate in Education (desirable or willingness to work towards)
15. Experience working in a hospitality catering environment
16. Experience in vocational education (desirable)
17. A collaborative approach and experience working in team settings
