About the Role
As a Marine Environmental Advisor, you’ll be part of the Hydrographic Services team within Marine Operations, helping to manage navigation channels, assess environmental impacts of third‑party works, and deliver accurate tidal data services. This is a unique opportunity to combine technical expertise with environmental stewardship in a dynamic estuarine environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee maintenance dredging and manage navigation channel assets
* Assess environmental impacts of harbour works and ensure regulatory compliance
* Analyse tidal data and manage the Thames 2D hydrodynamic model
* Support river users with reliable tidal products and services
What We’re Looking For
* Degree in physical sciences or engineering
* GIS proficiency and strong analytical skills
* Excellent communication — able to explain technical matters clearly
* Professional membership (e.g., ICE, IMarEST, Geological Society)
* Postgrad qualification in Marine Geology, Coastal Engineering, or similar
* Familiarity with marine construction and UK consenting processes
* Local knowledge of the Thames Estuary
