Our Water company client are seeking a Principal Wastewater Hydraulic Modeller to join their Brighton based team on a hybrid or remote working basis.
Our client are looking for a dynamic and experienced Principal Hydraulic Modeller to join a team driving innovation in the delivery of essential infrastructure.
Responsibilities
1. Technical guidance to / leadership of the project team.
2. Stakeholder liaison and report preparation.
3. Lead in the preparation of design calculations, specifications, datasheets and technical content of contracts.
4. Carry out approval of designs and ensure technical governance & QA is adhered to within the team.
5. Financial management of projects to ensure delivery within design budget.
6. Resolution of complex design issues.
7. Challenging company standards and existing ways of working to promote continuous improvement.
8. Actively research and seek industry best practice to provide innovative standardisation, including promotion of digital design concepts.
9. Collaborative working with the supply chain and delivery partners to drive efficiency.
10. May have line manager responsibilities for some of the junior engineers in the team.
11. Coaching and mentoring of junior members of staff, work with senior managers to ensure staff are engaged
12. Skills/experience/qualifications
13. MEng/BEng/BSc or HNC in an Engineering, Environmental or numerate science related subject.
14. Chartered Engineer of an appropriate Engineering /Scientific Institution
15. Proven and demonstrable technical background in delivering wastewater hydraulic modelling projects within the UK Water Industry to time and budget whilst in compliance with quality, safety and environmental procedures.
16. Thorough knowledge and understanding of the engineering theory and principles behind wastewater hydraulic modelling.
17. Worked at a Principal/Senior Hydraulic Modeller (or equivalent) with extensive knowledge of solution development and design
18. Full driving licence.
19. Competent in MS Office. Experience in relevant IT design tools.
20. Very good communication and presentation skills. High level ability to present & articulate technical ideas and arguments to both technical experts and lay people. Excellent verbal and written English.
21. Ability to work on own initiative and resolve complex engineering problems.
22. Understands others' roles within the team, the role and objectives of the team in the business and can explain these clearly. Co-operates with other areas in the wider interests of the business.
