Therapy Assistant

The post holder will be a member of the Therapies Assistant & Administration Team to ensure an efficient service is provided for adult patients and their carers attending clinics. They will also provide assistant cover to various therapies classes.
The Therapies department is split between three different sites within Dorchester, Weymouth and Charlton Down. They provide clinical appointments, as well as different classes and gym groups.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work closely with the team to ensure the delivery of a high quality service. They will require the utilisation of good secretarial, clerical, communication and interpersonal skills.
A polite and helpful first point of contact for patients, staff, and visitors to the Therapies Department at Weymouth Community Hospital and the Outpatient Therapies Centre in Charlton Down. To make patient appointments. To deal with enquiries from patients, staff and visitorsincluding by telephone, email, and face-to-face. Accurate sending and receiving of electronic data using hospital systems such as PAS and DPR.
Person Specification
Education, Qualifications & Training
* 4 GCSE Level C or equivalent including English and Maths
* BTEC or HND or NVQ Level 2 or equivalent experience in relevant subject
Knowledge & Experience
* Experience in a person-facing role.
* Experience and ability to work collaboratively with other members of the team.
* Experience of using own initiative.
* Able to demonstrate a basic level of knowledge of conditions, clinical pathways.
* Awareness of clinical governance and its implication for therapy.
* Previous experience of working in an administrative post.
Skills & Abilities
* Willingness and ability to undertake training.
* Able to communicate routine information to patients, carers, other health professionals and the team.
* Positive interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
* Good time-management skills with the ability to organise and prioritise.
* Able to provide a good standard of clear concise, written, and verbal reports in English.
