Overview
A 12‑month locum Respiratory Consultant position at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, with a focus on cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, and primary ciliary dyskinesia. The successful candidate will work within an established multidisciplinary team and support the development of high‑quality patient care.
Responsibilities
* Deliver clinical services to patients with cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis and primary ciliary dyskinesia, including inpatient care, specialist outpatient clinics and ambulatory care.
* Work closely with the wider CF/bronchiectasis/PCD multidisciplinary team.
* Provide clinical sessions to support the management of general respiratory patients.
* Participate in general respiratory service development and business planning in collaboration with other consultants, the CMG, local GPs and commissioners.
* Supervise and manage junior medical staff, ensuring compliance with employment and human resource policies.
* Carry out teaching, examination and accreditation duties, contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education locally and nationally.
* Respond promptly to legitimate requests from Trust officers, including investigations of incidents or complaints.
* Maintain continuing professional development (CPD) to revalidate and keep up to date with statutory and mandatory training.
* Participate in Trust Corporate and Directorate‑specific induction and competency programmes.
Qualifications
* Previous specialist experience in cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis or primary ciliary dyskinesia is ideal but not essential.
* Enthusiasm, willingness to work as part of an MDT and a passion for delivering high‑quality services to patients.
* Ability to train and develop skills in CF/bronchiectasis if required.
