The role
As a Design Engineer – Nuclear Process, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. This role offers strong progression opportunities within a supportive, agile team that values development, flexibility, and continuous improvement.
Day-to-day, you’ll support the Facilities Engineering Technical Authority, delivering design and technical expertise across Devonport Royal Dockyard and MOD establishments.
1. Lead or contribute to engineering teams, planning tasks and driving progress
2. Produce and review design documentation and assessments
3. Develop and deliver designs through all project phases, ensuring legislative compliance
4. Advise on design documentation and adherence to standards and regulations
5. Perform and lead quality checks on engineering outputs
This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.
Essential experience of the Design Engineer – Nuclear Process
6. Strong grasp of mechanical engineering for pressure and pipework systems
7. Familiarity with the full design lifecycle
8. Knowledge of regulations and standards for nuclear and pressure system design
9. Technical experience in pressure systems, CAD, or component simulation
10. Expertise in fluid flow analysis or nuclear plant design
Qualifications for the Design Engineer – Nuclear Process
11. A minimum of HNC or equivalent in a mechanical/process engineering discipline.
Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information (NNPPI) security clearance for this role.
